Organized by Col. Alcibiades DeBlanc in 1867 May, the knights were most active in La and Miss., though they were also active in Ala. and Tex. The Knights were considered a part of the loosely confederated Reconstruction era Ku Klux Klan. The Knights and other Ku Kluxers used a variety of methods of intimidiation.
